GIS Manager
Location: Dallas, TX (On-site: 5 days in office)
The Firm: Data-Driven, Real-Asset Focused
Stronghold Investment Management ("Stronghold," "SIM," or "the Firm") is a technology-driven, vertically integrated investment manager focused on real-assets and related private markets. Stronghold seeks to deliver best-in-class risk-adjusted returns through an investment framework that features comparatively rapid transaction velocity, deep technical expertise, creative financial structuring, and objective and algorithmic decision making.
Stronghold was founded by Ryan Turner in 2016 and has deployed over $1.6 billion in capital across 10+ investment vehicles. Ultimately, Stronghold intends to apply its technology-intensive investment approach to a variety of specialist real assets verticals, including:
- Oil & Gas
- Renewables
- Specialty Real Estate (commercial, datacenters, marinas)
- Telecommunications and Technology Infrastructure
- Billboards and Fixtures
- Mining & other commodities
- Utilities
- Secondaries
Your Mission
Stronghold is growing, and we're searching for a talented GIS Manager to lead and expand our geospatial capabilities. In this role, you'll own the strategy, standards, and execution of GIS operations across a fast-moving, multi-disciplinary team — while remaining a hands-on contributor yourself. The ideal candidate brings both the technical depth to do the work and the leadership instincts to build the function. You thrive in an entrepreneurial environment, can balance big-picture thinking with detail-level quality, and are energized by building something that matters from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities – What You'll Own
- GIS Function Leadership: Build, lead, and develop a high-performing GIS team, establishing workflows, quality standards, and capacity planning to support Land, Engineering, and Geological teams across multiple U.S. basins.
- Hands-On Geospatial Delivery: Remain an active contributor — producing and QC'ing maps, conducting spatial analysis, and stepping in on complex or high-priority deliverables alongside your team.
- Analytical Oversight: Direct and perform analysis of horizontal wellbores and drilling units to determine participation using acreage allocation and lateral length allocation methods.
- Standards and Governance: Own coordinate system standards, spatial accuracy protocols, QC processes, and documentation — ensuring consistency and reliability across all geospatial outputs.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with and communicate across multiple disciplines including Land, Engineering, and Geology to troubleshoot issues, remove blockers, and drive operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Intelligence: Research, interpret, and apply state-specific oil and gas regulations, spacing rules, and unitization requirements — and ensure your team is equipped to do the same.
- Data Integrity: Oversee the maintenance and ongoing accuracy of the land grid, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved systematically.
Qualifications – What You Bring
- A Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related discipline.
- 5–8+ years of GIS experience
- Deep proficiency with the ArcGIS suite and related products.
- A hands-on approach — comfortable setting direction at the team level and diving deep into the technical details when the work demands it.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical geospatial concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications – What Sets You Apart
- Previous experience supporting Land teams in the upstream Oil and Gas sector is strongly preferred.
- 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.
- Familiarity with property legal terminology, including Deed plot and the Public Land Survey System (PLSS).
- Experience building or scaling a GIS function — not just contributing to one.
- A player-coach mentality: you lead by doing, not just directing.

- Oil & Gas
- Renewables
- Specialty Real Estate (commercial, datacenters, marinas)
- Telecommunications and Technology Infrastructure
- Billboards and Fixtures
- Mining & other commodities
- Utilities
- Secondaries
Your Mission
We're seeking a Title Attorney to join Stronghold in Dallas, where title work isn't back-office support, it's a front-line driver of how the firm acquires, evaluates, and closes on real assets.
You'll lead title analysis and strategy across oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures, resolve complex title matters that others can't untangle, and partner directly with land, legal, and executive teams to push transactions forward. Your opinions won't sit in a drawer, they'll inform investment decisions at the highest level.
This is the right role for a title attorney who wants more than traditional legal work. You'll have real ownership over deal-critical analysis, meaningful exposure to transactions, and the opportunity to mentor a team and shape how title work gets done across a growing platform. If you're energized by complexity, speed, and the chance to leave your mark on a firm that's scaling fast, this is it.
Key Responsibilities - What You’ll Own
Title Examination & Analysis
- Be the authority on title. Review real property title documents and oil and gas agreements, chain mineral, surface, and working interests, and produce accurate, defensible ownership reports.
- Resolve what others can't. Identify and untangle title issues within the chain of title, the complex, multi-state, multi-interest problems that require real expertise to solve.
- Calculate with precision. Determine ownership of surface, mineral, royalty, and working interests with the accuracy that transaction teams and executives depend on.
- Own the opinion. Draft title opinions that clearly advise on ownership, resolve title complexities, and hold up under scrutiny.
Leadership & Development
- Raise the team's ceiling. Lead training programs that upskill team members in title analysis and regulatory compliance, building organizational capability that outlasts any single transaction.
- Be the go-to resource. Serve as the internal expert on title, regulatory, and transactional matters, the person the team comes to when the answer isn't obvious.
- Share what you know. Translate complex commercial obligations and opportunities into clear guidance that aligns team efforts and improves outcomes.
Contractual & Transactional Work
- Draft documents that hold. Produce precise, legally sound title opinions, property conveyances, contractual agreements, and curative measures — clean, clear, and built to close.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work across the org. Coordinate with land, legal, and executive teams to streamline asset acquisition processes and protect company interests at every stage.
- Build the infrastructure. Assist in the integration and training of applications designed to capture and manage asset data.
- Mentor deliberately. Facilitate knowledge sharing that genuinely improves the team's understanding of title and contractual issues, not just answering questions, but building capability.
Quality & Execution
- Deliver under pressure. Produce high-quality work products within aggressive deadlines, because deals don't wait.
- Communicate clearly. Provide concise, actionable summaries of findings during due diligence and team discussions that move things forward, not slow them down.
Qualifications - What You Bring
- An active law license. Licensed attorney in good standing in Texas and/or one or more of the following: New Mexico, Louisiana, Ohio, Utah, Colorado, North Dakota, or Oklahoma.
- Deep O&G title experience. You've done the work, mineral interest analysis, chain of title, multi-state regulatory systems, and you're genuinely expert at it.
- Multi-state regulatory fluency. Strong working knowledge of unit structures and regulatory systems across the states where we operate.
- Exceptional analytical instincts. You work through complex title problems systematically, accurately, and fast.
- The ability to develop others. You can train team members on industry best practices and legal procedures in a way that actually sticks.
- Clear, compelling communication. Strong written and verbal skills, you can educate a junior team member and present findings to an executive in the same day.
- High integrity and a collaborative mindset. You do the right thing, you work well with others, and you make the people around you better.
Preferred Qualifications - What Sets You Apart
- Landman experience. Hands-on landman background is a meaningful differentiator, you understand the field, not just the law.
- Energy Management education. A degree or coursework in Energy Management gives you an edge in understanding the full commercial picture.

Your Mission As we continue to expand our horizons, Stronghold is on the lookout for a skilled GIS Analyst to join our team. This role calls for someone who can seamlessly provide top-tier geospatial analysis and mapping solutions to a multi-faceted team in a dynamic setting. The ideal candidate will not only be proficient with the ArcGIS suite but should also be ready to thrive and deliver outstanding results in an entrepreneurial environment. As Stronghold continues to scale its geospatial operations, we are seeking a detail-oriented Cartographer (Digitizer / Spatial Data Creator) to join our GIS team. This role focuses on the digitization, creation, and maintenance of high-quality vector datasets and cartographic products that support Land, Engineering, and Geological teams across multiple U.S. basins. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in digital cartography, hands-on proficiency with the ArcGIS Suite and/or QGIS, and the ability to produce accurate, publication-ready maps on demand in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. Key Responsibilities - What You’ll Own • Digitization and Vector Data Creation: Digitize spatial features from land records, plat maps, survey documents, aerial imagery, and other source materials into accurate vector datasets using QGIS and/or the ArcGIS Suite. • Map Production on Demand: Create, design, and deliver high-quality cartographic products—including tract maps, unit maps, deed plots, and well location maps—according to established standards and within required turnaround times. • Cartographic Design and Standards: Apply principles of digital cartography to ensure all map outputs are clear, visually consistent, and adhere to the firm's symbology, labeling, and layout standards. • Georeferencing: Accurately georeference scanned land records, plat images, and other raster source materials, aligning them to the appropriate coordinate reference system for downstream digitization. • Data Accuracy and Quality Control: Perform self-review and peer-review checks on digitized features to ensure geometric accuracy, topological consistency, and attribute completeness before submission. • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with GIS Analysts, Senior GIS Analysts, and cross-functional teams (Land, Engineering, Geology) to understand mapping requirements and deliver outputs that meet operational needs. • Documentation: Maintain thorough records of digitization workflows, data sources, and any modifications made to spatial datasets for audit and reproducibility purposes.
Qualifications - What You Bring • A bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Geomatics, Surveying, or a related discipline. • 1–3 years of hands-on experience in GIS digitization, spatial data creation, or cartographic production. • Demonstrated proficiency with the ArcGIS Suite (ArcGIS Pro / ArcMap) and/or QGIS for digitizing, editing, and managing vector datasets. • Solid understanding of the fundamentals of digital cartography, including map design, symbology, labeling, scale, projections, and coordinate reference systems. • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to spatial data accuracy and quality. • Ability to produce maps on demand under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality. • Familiarity with vector data formats (Shapefile, GeoJSON, File Geodatabase) and basic geodatabase concepts.
